Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM wins three SPJ Awards
Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM won three awards at the 2012 Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Greater Philadelphia Chapter awards competition. “Your Health Matters” received first place in the competition’s Report/Health Science category. WGLS-FM earned second place recognition in the Radio Documentary category for “Smoking: Unfiltered,” a 30-minute documentary about the impact of nicotine addiction on college students. The segment was produced by Christina Maxwell and Philip Blandino.
Rowan’s Chapter of PRSSA Cleans Up Again at the National Conference
The national Public Relations Student Society of America held their conference this month, and announced the 2012 winners of organization awards and scholarship. Once again, the Rowan University chapter made a strong showing, scoring Outstanding Chapter Firm and Outstanding Community Service. RTN Again a Finalist in College Broadcasters, Inc. 2012 Awards
The Rowan Television Network placed as a CBI award finalist in two categories: Best Community Involvement for “RTN’s Fifth Annual Telethon Supporting Make-A-Wish Foundation” and Best Vodcast for sketches from season two of “Socially Awkward.” The executive producers for the 2012 telethon were Brianna Vander Horn and Dominic Trombino. “Socially Awkward” was produced by Blake Rice
