Cypher and Litwin Honored

Dr. Joy Cypher (Communication Studies) and Prof. Larry Litwin (PR/Advertising) were honored this month at the Celebrating Excellence ceremony.

Dr. Cypher was the recipient of the 2012 Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award.  This award honors a tenured faculty member who has an outstanding record of teaching and has shown an ongoing commitment to student learning.

The Lindback Award was funded by a gift from the Christian and Mary Lindback Foundation.  The award has been given at Rowan since 1998.  Past award winners include, from the College of Communication, Ned Eckhardt and Sandy Tweedie.

Prof. Litwin received the 2012 Gary J. Hunter Excellence in Mentoring Award.  This award is given to an individual who goes to “extraordinary lengths” in mentoring and shows exceptional ability to support, encourage, and promote student growth.

The Hunter award is sponsored by the AFT Local 2373 and Rowan University.  Prof. Claudia Cuddy (Journalism) also received this award in 2009.

Congratulations to Dr. Cypher and Prof. Litwin on these impressive awards!
