WGLS-FM honored again!

Dear friends,
Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM has again been recognized with awards from the Philadelphia Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) competition and the annual Philadelphia Press Association competition.

For the Philadelphia Excellence in Journalism awards, the following were honored:

In the Best Documentary category

Facing Facebook was awarded first place. This documentary was produced by students E.J. Campbell, Lindsay Ezykowich, and Matt Shanley.

Rowan University – Building a Boulevard was awarded second place. This documentary was produced by students Chris Capitanio, Maya Carr, and James Bracciante.

Both documentaries were a collaborative effort between Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM and the radio production course taught by assistant station manager Derek Jones.

In the Best Talk Show category

Studio 89.7, hosted by adjunct faculty member Paul Perrello, was awarded first place for his interview with actor George Takei

In the Radio Sports Feature category

The Rowan Radio Pro Football Preview Show, produced by Derek Jones, was awarded first place.

The Rowan Sports Review, produced by student Adam Dobrowolski, was awarded with second place.

Facing Facebook won first place.
